Can I hire someone to just run my park's SEO?
Yes, and plenty of parks do. It works or fails on two conditions, and both are about your existing site.
SHORT ANSWER
Yes, and it is common. Two conditions decide whether it works. First, whoever runs your SEO needs to be able to change the site; if every edit goes through a third party who takes two weeks, the work stalls. Second, the existing site has to be worth optimizing; if it fails on phones or runs on abandoned software, SEO spend is going into a bucket with a hole in it. If both conditions are met, SEO-only is a reasonable arrangement at $250 to $1,500 a month. We do it for parks whose sites we did not build.
The two conditions
Edit access. SEO is mostly changes to the site: headings, pages, structured data, internal links. If your SEO provider has to email your web company and wait, you pay for two vendors and get the speed of the slower one. Give the SEO provider direct access or expect it to move at a crawl.
A site worth optimizing. If the site is not usable on a phone, no amount of keyword work will fix the ranking, because mobile usability is part of the ranking. Fix the foundation first, then optimize.
What SEO-only should include
- The technical check and the fixes that come out of it.
- Google Business Profile worked properly, which for a park often matters more than the site.
- Listing consistency across the directories and map services.
- New pages each month targeting searches you do not currently answer.
- Reviews: asking, monitoring, responding.
- Reporting from your own Search Console, not a dashboard they own.
What it should not include
Buying links. Submitting your site to hundreds of directories. Anything described as a "boost". Monthly PDFs of rankings for terms nobody searches. If the deliverable is a report rather than changes to your site and your profile, you are paying for paperwork.
How we do it
We take SEO-only clients at $250 a month whether or not we built the site. We need edit access or a cooperative web company, and if the site fails the basics we will tell you that before taking money for optimization. The whole list of work is free on our SEO guide, so you can check any provider, us included, against it.

Can I hire SEO without changing my website?
Yes, if the site is technically sound and whoever does the SEO can make changes to it.
What if my web company will not give SEO access?
That is a real problem and a reason to reconsider the web company. Ask for it before signing an SEO agreement.
Do I need SEO and a website from the same company?
No. It is simpler because the work moves faster, but plenty of parks split them successfully.
How do I know if SEO is working?
Google Search Console, which is your account. Look at impressions and clicks for searches about your area, and at whether you appear in the map results for your town.
