RV PARK AEO GUIDE

FAQ blocks and structured data: labeling the answers for machines.

A question heading with the answer under it is the technique. FAQ structured data is the label on it, telling Google and the assistants: this is a question, this is its answer, extract here. It earns the dropdowns under your result, and it is the format assistants read most reliably.

IN ONE PARAGRAPH

FAQ structured data is a small block of code listing questions and answers that appear on the page. Search engines use it to show those questions as expandable dropdowns under the result and to answer People also ask and voice queries from it. AI assistants read it as clean, labeled facts. It works when the marked-up questions match the visible text exactly, are real questions guests ask, and are answered fully. It fails silently when the block has an error, and Google ignores it when the questions are marketing or do not appear on the page. Most builders add it automatically from a FAQ block; the job is writing real questions.

What to mark up on a park site

  • The five to eight questions on each main page, in the FAQ block at the bottom.
  • The facts page, where every question heading can be marked.
  • Not the whole page rewritten as questions, and not questions that exist only to insert terms.

Alongside it, the Campground schema on the homepage gives assistants the business facts: name, address, phone, hours, coordinates, amenities. The two together are what a machine wants: what the park is, and the answers to the questions about it. The schema itself, in the SEO guide.

What one looks like

The visible block on a cabins page:

Do the cabins have bathrooms?
Yes. All four cabins have a private bathroom with a shower. Towels and linens are provided.

Can I bring my dog to a cabin?
Dogs are allowed in cabins 3 and 4, up to two, with a $20 per-stay fee. Cabins 1 and 2 are pet-free.

And the code behind it, generated from that text, listing each question and answer in the FAQPage format. In results, Google may show "Do the cabins have bathrooms?" as a dropdown under the park's cabins result. An assistant asked about pet-friendly cabins near the town has a labeled answer to quote.

The rules that get it ignored

  • The marked-up text must match the visible text. Hidden questions, or answers only in the code, are treated as spam.
  • The questions must be real questions with real answers, not "Why choose us?" with a paragraph of adjectives.
  • The block must parse. One missing comma and Google ignores the whole thing without telling you.
  • Do not mark up the same question on many pages; put each where it belongs.

What it looks like when it is missing

The park has a good FAQ page, unmarked. Competitors' results show dropdowns; the park's shows a plain link. Or the builder added FAQ markup to a page with no questions on it, and Google flagged it in Search Console under "invalid."

How to check your own

  1. Paste a page with questions into Google's Rich Results Test. It reports FAQ items found and any errors.
  2. Search the park's name and look under the result for dropdowns.
  3. In Search Console, check Enhancements for FAQ and read any warnings.

What we do about it

Every FAQ block on a site we build generates its own structured data from the visible text, so it cannot mismatch, and every block is validated before launch. The homepage carries Campground schema with the real facts. In the Marketing band we watch Search Console's FAQ report and add questions as they appear. Where the questions come from, next.

Questions about this.

What is FAQ structured data?

A block of code that lists the questions and answers visible on a page so search engines can show them as dropdowns and assistants can extract them as labeled facts.

Does FAQ schema help my park rank?

It helps the result take more space with dropdowns and feeds voice and AI answers. It does not directly move the ranking of the link, but it earns more from the position you have.

Why did Google ignore my FAQ markup?

Usually because the marked-up text does not match the page, the questions are marketing rather than real, or the code has an error. Check it in the Rich Results Test.

How many FAQ questions should a page have?

Five to eight real ones per main page, placed on the page they belong to, with full answers. A single giant FAQ page is fine as a reference but earns less.
